The Electronics and Communications department, fondly known as E&C, was a fledging department when inaugurated in 1972, under the guidance of its first H.O.D Dr S. J. Bhat. After more than 25 years of existence, E&C is one of the most sought after branches in the college due, in no small part, to the excellence and experience of its faculty and its up to date laboratory facilities. It now has one of the largest staff and student profiles in the college today, and its graduates are absorbed by a large number of firms including Siemens, ABB and Tata. Besides the traditional subjects in electronics and telecommunications, students may also take up courses offered in such cutting edge fields as Speech Processing, Very Large Scale Integration (VLSI), Digital Signal Processing (DSP), Computer Networking etc. The Department has full-fledged laboratories in the areas of Communication, Printed Circuit board, Microprocessor, Industrial Electronics, Basic Electronics & Project Work.

In addition to the regular teaching work, the Department also undertakes consultancy work in PCB for the neighbouring Industries. The Department has complete Single sided and Double sided PCB fabrication facilities with PTH, supported by the PC based software module to develop the Artwork with Multipen A0/Al size colour plotter.
Students from the nearby Institutions get their PCB fabricated from this Department. The Department has a full-fledged Computer Lab to assist the Project work in the areas of Software, Hardware & Simulation.
